Dressing for the opera can be a challenge, especially if it’s your first time attending. While thoughts of the opera can conjure views of elegantly clad women and men, make sure not to overdo it. Opening night is the only time for extreme elegance, but go more for sleek than poofy, nothing is worse than having people wonder if you came straight from the prom. All the other performances of the opera require much less extravagant outfits and there’s a decent amount of freedom.
