What to Wear: Evening Casual

The street lights are on. The sun has taken its slumber, and the moon rises in its place. Bicyclists wear those weird reflector things. And you think you can just walk outside and wear the same ol’ Casual clothing you were wearing earlier? No way, Jose. Evening is a whole different ball game. You don’t have to whip out the tux, but don’t whip out your jorts either. Just play it cool, man.

Evening Casual is less formal than strict evening wear, but more formal than jeans or shorts. Confusing!

Well, we are here to help. While the definitions of evening dress code are usually a little more strict for men, women have more leeway in dressing appropriately. Imagine you’re going out to dinner with friends to a nice restaurant: you wear dressy clothing but not too dressy. You don’t have to wear a gown or full tuxedos. The key is to put together a comfortable yet still somewhat dressy outfit. Again, the color black is important to wear because black is chic, classy and always timeless.
